Family Law in Washington County, Oregon

Washington County is arguably Oregon’s fastest-growing county. The influx of technology and sporting businesses, combined with somewhat lower housing prices is drawing an ever-increasing population. Washington County is at once part urban and part rural, encompassing cities and towns such as (but not limited to) Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Hillsboro, Gaston, Oak Grove, and North Plains.

Despite an increasing population – the second-most in Oregon – Washington County has a small amount of judges, and an even smaller amount of those judges are assigned to family law cases. Nevertheless, the court does its best to push cases through the system in a timely fashion.

Washington County, like many other Oregon counties, does its best to provide dispute resolution services. Mediation is often available in divorce and dissolution cases, and some family law matters are handled by arbitration instead of a full-blown trial.
